Piper PA-28RT-201T, G-JANG

Summary:

The aircraft took off from Swansea for Exeter, with adequate fuel on board. Several minutes after takeoff the engine failed. The pilot opted to land on water close to Mumbles head, where there was a Coast Guard Station. He was rescued almost immediately, and sustained no serious injury. The aircraft sank and was not recovered. The reason for the engine failure was not determined, however the pilot considered that a failure of the fuel system was the most likely cause.
