Grumman AA-5B Tiger, G-ROWL

Summary:

While landing on Runway 08, which has an LDA of 1778 m, the aircraft touched down about 140 m beyond the threshold, bounced and touched down again, nose landing gear first, about 200 m further on. The aircraft then became airborne a second time and the pilot conducted a go-around, requesting a low level circuit to land. During climb out, the aircraft’s poor rate of climb led the pilot to suspect that the aircraft had sustained some damage. While on the base leg, he requested a visual inspection of the landing gear from the Control Tower. No landing gear damage was evident and the aircraft landed without further incident at 1202 hrs.
