Piper PA-28R-201 Cherokee Arrow III, G-HERB

Summary:

The aircraft touched down on the wet grass runway and as the brakes were applied entered a skid. The pilot executed a go-around and became airborne but failed to clear a hedge which was struck by the left wingtip and the aircraft struck the ground. The wet runway surface condition degraded the aircraft braking and acceleration performance. This resulted in the aircraft becoming airborne beyond a point where it could safely clear the hedge.
